Flowmeters are the heart of any metering system, as they give the basic measurement of the total flow of liquid or gas, which is then used to calculate the volume or mass of the fluid product transferred from the seller to the buyer. To verify the performance of these meters and to comply with local legislation, the meters need to be verified and/or calibrated regularly, and this calibration would usually be witnessed by both parties involved in the transaction, or by an appointed third party.
As a manufacturer of flowmeters, requiring all products to be factory flow tested and calibrated, KROHNE has to equip all its own factories with many different types of calibration and prover system. All these calibration rigs are fully traceable to, and compliant with, national standards, and are used to calibrate the flowmeters sold to third parties. This gives KROHNE a depth of expertise in the design and operation of these systems, which enables them to supply similar equipment to their customers, when they require in-house calibration and prover facilities.
While many customers rely on the return of meters to the factory for regular calibration checks, or use mobile meter proving services which bring a portable prover to their establishment, sometimes it is desirable to have in-house test facilities for meter proving. Our specialists can provide support in questions regarding discussions with local metrology institutes, business plans, logistics, design and installation of such calibration facilities.
