Flow measurement for the custody transfer of a liquid or gas product is used to determine the value of the transaction, and this requires a knowledge of the basic composition of the product itself. Where this can vary, then sampling and analyser systems are used to establish the average quality, or composition of the transfer. Sampling systems alone can provide flow proportional samples for subsequent laboratory analysis. On-line analysis is also possible for some specific measurements of chemical and physical properties, particularly for example water content of extracted products.
In addition to the required knowledge of the equipment and related technologies to apply, very deep experience and familiarity are necessary to properly design the techniques used for sampling, and the conditioning and storage of the sample itself, in order that it is representative of the average composition of the whole flowstream.
KROHNE engineers with specific skills and experiences cover all disciples required to achieve a cost effective, fit-for-purpose design. Process and sizing calculation, piping stress calculations, E&I diagrams, software development, CFD simulation, standards and norms compliance, in-house testing, FAT, SAT and commissioning procedures, amongst others, are all engineered in-house.
