PipePatrol leak detection: Best available technology according to AB-864

In October 2015, the State of California issued the Assembly Bill 864 Oil Spill Response: Environmentally and Ecologically Sensitive Coastal Areas, in short AB-864. Following the AB-864, pipelines must be equipped with the „Best available Technology” (BAT), which is defined as “technology that provides the greatest degree of protection by limiting the quantity of release in the event of a spill, taking into consideration whether the processes are currently in use and could be purchased anywhere in the world.” According to AB-864, all new pipelines installed after January 1st 2018 have to use BAT. As of January 1st 2020, all existing pipelines have to be equipped with BAT.
