Offshore supply vessels serve a very wide range of operational and logistical purposes, and these are vital to oil and gas exploration and production operations in particular. While some are very specialized such as seismic or pipe layer vessels, the majority are multipurpose supply ships, transporting people, provisions, materials, spare parts, chemicals or drilling muds to and from offshore sites. Often working under high load and in adverse sea and weather conditions, operators rely on sophisticated monitoring systems for safe and reliable operation, both in transit and while transferring cargoes at sea.

The KROHNE tank level monitoring system CARGOMASTER® is designed for all tank monitoring, alarm and liquid cargo operations, including ballast tanks. Close to 1000 vessels have been equipped with cargo monitoring systems from KROHNE to date. The system includes radar level transmitter tank level and ullage measurement, and other tank instrumentation and high/low level alarms.

KROHNE EcoMATE™ electronic fuel management system and Coriolis mass flowmeters enables the crew and ship owner to keep track of and report on fuel consumption and corresponding emissions, in accordance with the new regulations from the European Union and the International Maritime Organization (IMO). EcoMATE™ also allows separate monitoring of any bunkering operations or liquid cargo transfer.

KROHNE also manufacture a wide range of electromagnetic flowmeters suitable for other flow instrumentation on board, such as in ballast water treatment systems, exhaust gas cleaners (scrubbers) water/oil separators or fresh water production systems.
