Gas carriers in the marine industry

Gas carriers are vessels designed specifically for ocean transport of all types of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied petroleum gases (LPG) to all destinations. The larger ships do have special insulated tanks built-in to the structure, sometimes spherical, all with smooth internal surfaces, to carry the liquid gas.

Many gas tanker owners invest in electronic fuel management systems (EFMS) today, to ensure the efficiency of their ships and cargo transfer, in accordance with the new regulations from the EU and IMO. The KROHNE EcoMATE™ system with Coriolis mass flowmeters provides an electronic fuel management and engine performance monitoring system that enables the crew and ship owner to keep track of and report on both fuel consumption and all corresponding emissions. This system is accessible from shore-based systems, allowing both the crew and ship owner to monitor the data.

KROHNE also manufacture a wide range of electromagnetic flowmeters suitable for other flow instrumentation on board, such as in ballast water treatment systems, exhaust gas cleaners (scrubbers) water/oil separators or fresh water production systems.
